We recommend placing a total of 2-3 inches of lava to cover your burner area
Crushed lava is a beautiful infill option, however, it tends to hold moisture given its natural porosity and may pop some bits

Covering the unit after each use is highly recommended to prevent moisture build-up

If the lava filling has some humidity, we suggest running the fire pit on low for a couple of minutes to eliminate it completely
